Day31 is currently available for iPhone — download it from the Apple App Store. Everything runs on-device, and updates ship regularly.

Day31 is free to download and try; the Day31 Pro subscription (weekly and annual plans, free trial included) is purchased in the app. Current pricing is always shown in the App Store before you buy — we deliberately do not repeat prices here, because the store is the source of truth.

In our real world testing, Day31 used only 2% of the battery in 10 days according to Apple iOS data. The device is iPhone 11, which is a bit dated so you might get an even better performance.

Day31 offers comprehensive tax residency tracking capabilities across a wide range of jurisdictions. This includes all countries worldwide, as well as specific coverage for the United States and Canada. Within the U.S., Day31 supports tracking for all 50 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico. It even accounts for unique local tax jurisdictions like New York City and Yonkers within New York State. For Canada, the system covers all provinces and territories.

Firstly, all of your personal data is stored on your phone only. For backup purposes, should you choose to enable it, you are backing up the data to your personal iCloud Drive, instead of an external server managed by us. Secondly, the app runs entirely offline, except when you talk to the Apple App Store to purchase a subscription. We do not know who you are, and Apple doesn’t tell us that. Lastly, you can choose to use your device biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID etc.) to auto-lock the app after a set duration, so even if your device is left unlocked someone else can’t see your data. As soon as you start exiting the app, the screen blurs to ensure your privacy is protected.

The setup can be completed in less than 5 minutes. Simply define the max/min day you want to spend at a jurisdiction, then use the Timeline generation which reads when and where your photos/videos were taken to generate a travel timeline in mere seconds. We do not access nor store the actual content of the photos/videos themselves, and all processing is done on your phone without needing an internet connection. In fact, try turning off Cellular Data & Wi-Fi before you generate the timeline — you will see it works just fine.
